Product Description One man stands up to the corporate mining boss who is out to kill all of the independent miners during the California gold rush.
Amazon.com essential video After a nine-year break from the genre that made him an international star (the Western just before this one was The Outlaw Josey Wales, from 1976), Clint Eastwood returned in this gritty Western, crafted in the tradition of Shane and High Noon. Eastwood directed and stars as the nameless stranger known only as "Preacher," because he rides into a beleaguered mining town wearing a clerical collar. He's either an agent of death or an angel of mercy, and the echoes of Shane ring loud and clear when he comes to the aid of independent miners who are being terrorized by a local tycoon (Richard Dysart) and his ruthless band of hired guns. Befriended by a miner (Michael Moriarty) and idolized by the miner's wife and daughter (played by Carrie Snodgress and Sydney Penny, respectively), the "Pale Rider" sparks the defiant spirit of the underdog miners and takes after the bad guys with single-minded purpose. --Jeff Shannon

Pale Rider DVD August 23, 2010 Carrot Top This is a pretty good western movie. Not one I watch all that often, but fun to watch once in a while. The acting is a bit cheesy, but I had to give it 5 stars because I love Clint Easteood's movies.
Pale Rider August 22, 2010 Steven A. Boppell (Philadelphia Pa) Pale Rider is my favorite western of all time. I know Clint Eastwood won the Oscar for Unforgiven but I didn't thing it was as good as Pale Rider! I've been looking for this DVD for awhile! Found it here, on Amazon, for less than I would've found it in a retailer. Delivery was quick too. I do almost all my purchases with Amazon now!
dont be fooled August 11, 2010 C. J. Fitzpatrick there is no difference between the 2008 pale rider blu ray and the 2010 version aside from the packaging aspect ratio is 2:4:1 on both versions
Well Worth Viewing. August 5, 2010 Gary Peterson (San Diego, California USA) My wife and I have been watching a lot of Clint Eastwood western movie DVDs as a form of late night entertainment. We enjoy them very much. Last night we watched "Pale Rider." Here Eastwood played a White Night on a beautiful horse to a group of gold-pan miners who were in danger of having their claims stolen by a rival gold company. Of course, there was a lot of violence, first without guns and second with as matters escalated. Eastward played an unconvincing role as a traveling preacher. Sorry, it just didn't fit. In any case, he dispatched the bad guys, as you would expect and a lot of people met their maker Eastwood style.
It was an interesting movie. Supposedly, it happened in the gold country of California but a lot looked like it was filmed in the Grand Tetons and the scenery was astonishingly beautiful. The story and the acting, well it was so, so. Somehow, "Pale Rider" didn't rise to the level of the other Eastwood western movies, but it was still excellent entertainment and well worth viewing.

Pale Rider: Clint Eastwood film on DVD. June 25, 2010 Dr. Feelgood (USA) Not as well received as "Unforgiven", or perhaps as intense, a subtle film, that's worth checking out.
